** New Pirate Video – "Pirate Feelin'"

We've posted a new video that you might want to check out. It's not your typical sea chanty. But what if that classic 1969s rock ballad, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" was in fact originally a pirate song? It might have sounded something like this. (Only better sung.)

** The OTHER Drink of Preference on TLAPDay

Rum, of course, is what most of us (over 21 types) will hoist Saturday. But you've got to start the day with something a little stronger – a good strong cup of black coffee (or "morning grog, as I like to call it.) And our friends at Pirate's Brew Coffee are offering a special offer to its friends on Facebook to celebrate the holiday.

First, go to Facebook and "like" their page. Then go to their website, www.PiratesBrewCoffee.net , enter ITLAPD into the coupon code and get $5 off any order of $34 or more. That is $34.00 worth of coffee (or T-shirts, but mostly coffee) for only $29 with free shipping.

---------------------------

** Don't Forget the Fish!

Don't forget to swagger into a participating Long John Silver's seafood restaurant on the day dressed like a pirate. It'll get you a free two-piece fish tender basket, or chicken if you're not a fan of fish.

Not sure whether the LJS nearest you is participating? Go to their website at http://www.ljsilvers.com/tlap for a map, and all the details!

-----------------------------

** What's Wrong with Germany?

Just got off the phone with a very pleasant young lady at a radio station in Würzburg, Germany, and she said that there are no pirate parties or activities planned in the country for this Saturday! I checked the map at http://talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html and she's right! Not so much as a pirate pub crawl!

What's the matter? In the name of Klaus Störtebeker and the Victual Brothers (those are pirates, not a rock band) let's get some action going!

You can send information about your plans for the holiday to webwench at talklikeapirate.com, and she'll post 'em on our map. Check it for events going on in your area.

And if you find there's nothing planned, plan something! Then tell us and we'll let the world know.

** Help Get This Pirate Game Off the Ground

The lads at Bent Castle Workshops are approaching the deadline for their Kickstarter campaign to launch a pirate card game, Scallywags. It looks kind of fun. You build your crew by matching cards with various body parts. There's a lot more to it, but that's the gist.

If you want to take part, you'll find their campaign at:

** Beyond the 19th – Two New Events for "Chrissie"

Sept. 19 is the highlight of the year. To pirates, it's what Christmas is to most other folks. The 19th is what we look forward to all year.

But on the 20th, I'll still have books to sell, so I've got to take the long view here.

– On Sept. 23 I'll take part in a reading (with two other authors pushing their debut novels) at the East Jefferson Parish Regional Library. I will be discussing and reading from "Chrissie Warren: Pirate Hunter," and sharing the presentation with Jill Collins (author of "Surrender") and Cheryl Rogers ("Three Only Children.")

The event will held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie. If you're in Jefferson Parish or the greater New Orleans area, I hope you can make it down to the library.

– Even bigger news – Mad Sally and I have been invited to take part as VIPs (Very Important Pirates) in the Tybee Island Pirate Festival beginning Thursday, Oct. 8. http://tybeeisland.com/pirates/

That's the night of the Buccaneer Ball, the grand opening celebration of the festival. The festival itself takes place the following Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a parade Saturday, Oct. 10. Mad Sally and I will be aboard one of the floats. I love a good parade.

And somewhere in there, I'll do a reading/book signing of "Chrissie."

I remember the first PirateCon in 2006 in New Orleans, and a lot of people there were talking about the Tybee Island Festival and how much fun they'd had there in 2005, it's first year. Can't wait to see for myself what it's grown into.

And sure hope to see you there!

-------------------

That'll do for now. Remember, Slappy and I will be in Studio City this Saturday and hope you stop by.

Until then, keep spreading the word, and the word is "Aarrr!"
