Ol' Chumbucket and his bride, Mad Sally, will be in Florida Friday through Sunday, Sept. 16-18, as guests of the Cedar Key Pirate Invasion. Cedar Key is a small town on the Gulf Coast, but take a look at the photos on the festival's website ? this is one big pirate party, drawing buccaneers from all over the southeast. I'll be reading from my adventure novel, "Chrissie Warren: Pirate Hunter," and we're looking forward to the Pirate's Parlay, the parade, the invasion, the whole thing. It'll be a great time. And we're hoping to schedule something else in Florida for the drive home, on International Talk Like a Pirate Day itself. Cap'n Slappy will drop in for Cockroach and Mercy's eighth annual, famous Talk Like a Pirate Day Bash in Portland on the weekend. On the day itself, he'll swagger around the corner from his home to the Calapooia Brew Pub (Literally, 120 steps around the corner ? Don't let anyone downplay the importance of location in real estate!) where he'll hold court with all who drop in, including the Web Wench (and enjoy some of the best beer anywhere.) ** Website Changes Coming, Let Us Know What You're Up To Speaking of the Web Wench, she's been hard at work cleaning up talklikeapirate.com, our home on the web. I won't pretend to know what a lot of this is about, but aside from cleaning a lot of the old stuff out of the bilge and tightening the rigging, she's making a whole bunch of other changes. The old map of upcoming events for the holiday will be gone ? apparently it's no more compatible with our new system than 17th century Spanish sailors were with buccaneers ? but we will have *a* map listing Talk Like a Pirate Day Parties all around the world. I'm told it's coming pretty soon. We'll let you know when it comes. ** More Good Reviews for "Chrissie Warren" Just wanted to share the most recent pair of reviews posted on Amazon for "Chrissie Warren: Pirate Hunter." The book is receiving great word of mouth. "I really enjoyed this book. Great storyline, full of adventure, and very entertaining. Well written without any holes, the author did a great job tying everything together. ... suitable to young adults and adults of any age. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to be carried away on a high seas adventure in search of a villainous pirate! I hope a sequel is in the works, arr!" "Who better to write a pirate tale than...a Pirate?!? Mr. Baur has written a rollicking good tale suitable for a younger audience, but not so predictable that more mature readers won't enjoy it. Hopefully the first of many... " Kind words. And in answer to both reviewers, yes a sequel is in the works, along with a couple of other works I have on the drawing boards. Get ready, the holiday is almost here! And in the meantime, keep spreadin' the word ? and the word is "Aarrr!" --- John "Ol' Chumbucket" Baur, Poopdeck editor -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
