Issue No. 184 Edited by Ol' Chumbucket --------------------------------------------------- We've Got Pirate Plans for the New Year Ahoy! Lots going on, but this Poopdeck will start with a more personal note. We at the Ol' Chumbucket/Mad Sally household were dealing with a health issue the last few months. Not to get too involved, I wanted to share with you that I had heart bypass surgery last month and am now well on my way to a much better outlook. And if there's ever a great time to have heart surgery, that was it, because the recovery should be complete right on schedule for us to take part in some events we've have been looking forward to. This is what we've got planned for 2024. We hope our path crosses yours along the way. 1 ? The Swashbucklers Ball is Portland, Oregon's, "Pirate Prom." It draws hundreds of pirates from throughout the Northwest for an evening of freebooter fun, food, music and dancing, gaming, vendors and so much more. (including adult libations, believe it or not.) Last year was the first for me and Mad Sally and we enjoyed it so much we can't wait to return. It'll begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Milwaukie, Oregon, Elks Lodge, and it sprawls all over the venue . You can purchase tickets and learn more here ? https://swashbucklersball.com. If you're a Northwest filibuster, you don't want to miss it. See you there. 2) I've been invited to take part in the Old City Pirate Fest, Feb. 2, 3, and 4 in St. Augustine Florida. There'll be entertainment, vendors, an authors row, seminars and more. Mad Sally probably won't be able to join me for this one (she has to work ? boo), but I'll be joined by family ? pirate family! There'll be plenty more to talk about as the day gets closer and the plans firmer. 3) This summer's highlight will be the Pirate Invasion Long Beach in Southern California, June 28 ? 30. This is one of the big ones, a three-day gathering of the finest filibusters around, and Mad Sally, Cap'n Slappy and I are slated to take part. It'll be a return appearance for Slappy, who has been before, but a first for me and Mad Sally. We'll have our weather eye out, and we hope we spot you there. There are, of course, many, many more piratey adventures up and down the calendar and all around the world, but these are the three we're planning for right now. We'll keep you up to date as plans firm up or change, as they sometimes do. And you keep us up to date too, won't you? If you've got pirate plans for 2024, or know of an event that's not on our links page, please let us know. The pirate world is much more fun when we're all in it together. In the meantime, enjoy the holiday season. It's not exactly Talk Like a Pirate Day, but Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year aren't bad. You may quote me.
