Mark, Thank you for all your work for the WKCC over the many years that you have been on the
Board and served as president of the club. It wouldn't be what it is today without you!!! I
think everyone knows how you put your heart and soul into the club and really have helped shaped
the club. Hope you enjoy some more time for yourself once your term is up at the end of the year,
and that you'll have even more time to go out paddling with the club instead of just doing the
behind-the-scenes work!!! :-) Your humor when making announcements on stage and your dedication
when doing grunt work behind the stage is much appreciated!!!!

Thanks also to Conor who is a tireless energizer-bunny getting the newsletter out and organizing
Safety Weekend. And thanks to Dave who has really improved the club website which will hopefully
get used more and more!!

Quick Metolius trip report: We had twenty people again this year (same as last). Great diversity
of paddlers from those who are regulars to those who haven't been out in about a year. We had
most kayakers, but also an IK and an OC-2 team practicing for the Grand Canyon next spring. The
fall colors were pretty much gone (it was 18 degrees when we were camping up there -- brrrrrrr),
but we had 20 paddlers, 14 eagle sitings, 3 significant logs, and 2 flat tires (on one car) --
oops. Well, that last part is a separate story in its own right.... Anyway, sounds like people
would like to go earlier next year when it's warmer, so we'll plan on that!!!! Thanks to all
those who made it out this year!!!

PS We found a paddle if anyone lost one....

PPS I met a guy on the Deschutes yesterday who moved out here from the East coast and will be the
PNW representative for the US Slalom committee. He might have some ideas for what to do with the
slalom gates that we have (other than keeping them in the garage). Let me know who I should have
him contact!!!! That would be great to have a slalom course somewhere near Corvallis for club
members to train on!!!
