Dear Colleagues,



Thank you for your commitment to serve as an officer for your Professional
Organization.



The election results are in and you have been elected to the position you
were running for.  Congratulations!


I have attached a document that I intend to publish in the next issue of
TOST and on the website.  Please read through it and let me know of any
corrections or additions you would like to see in your descriptions.  *Please
do this by Monday, October 8th.*



In the case of President-Elect, I would like to personally thank Sue
McWilliams for her willingness to step forward for this important
leadership position.


As there was a tie for Region 1 Director, it has been discussed amongst the
Presidents and Executive Director.  The decision has been reached that we
would honor the tie and install both candidates as directors. We are
certain that this highly populated region could benefit from the additional
director.



Please mark your calendars for these important dates as your presence as an
officer of the Executive Board of the Oregon Science Teachers Association
will be required:



*November 10* *at Centennial High School *(3505 SE 182nd, Gresham, OR
97030).  This meeting will start at 10am in Room 155.  You will need to
park in the lot on the south side of the building.  You will see signage on
the building, so park near the entrance to the Auditorium and Gym areas.
One of the outside doors will be marked so you may find your way into the
building and into the room.



*January 11-13 at Tilikum Retreat Center* (15321 NE North Valley Road,
Newberg, OR 97132). This is the annual weekend retreat where the bulk of
the organization’s budgeting, planning and work for the year is done. Plan
to arrive Friday evening for dinner, and leaving by noon on Sunday.  This
year, we will be working on the transition to a new website with membership
and conference registration and management capabilities as well as
organization of work regarding the NSTA Area Conference the next October.



The organization does reimburse its officers for mileage to and from these
meetings, so please keep track of this.


I will be researching my district's ability to conference call for the
November meeting.  In the past, some directors have been present by Skype.
 I will have more information as the meeting date draw closer.  However, I
would like to emphasize the importance of the face-to-face interactions
with the board members at the winter retreat.  This is the only time set
aside for extended work on OSTA business that is the service we provide to
our members.  I would appreciate your effort in being present at that
retreat, and will be offering Professional Development Units for the
retreat.



Please bring your calendars to these meetings so we may plan the rest of
the year's meetings to ensure your attendance.  There are some exciting
opportunities coming up and we need your help.



I hope to see you at the Conference on October 12th at Leslie Middle School
in Salem.



Again, congratulations and a heartfelt thanks for your commitment to
