[Osta-board] An Oregon eCYBERMISSION grant Deadline is TODAY !

Hello Board members,

One of the major deadlines for the eCybermission participants is
JANUARY 15th!

There is not much activity from Oregon. That is too bad, as the 3
groups that did it from central Oregon last year all won $500 savings bonds.

Sue Whitsett was exhibiting at the 2013 NSTA Western Regional in
Portland and still could not bring up any interest. Pity.

Thank you for all that you do! Peace and friendship and
eCybermission.

 Dear Bernie,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone in your organization enjoyed the holidays
and is ready for 2014.

I have some information to share with you about eCYBERMISSION for this new
year which I hope you will share with your members.

*Information:*

The following chart was part of the state contract you signed last year.
Please note the deadlines below for the grant money available. For any of
the registrations, the registrant must use the following registration code
for your organization to receive the money: NSTA: Referred by NSTA State
Chapter. (Students are attached to the team advisor’s registration). Many
team advisors have registered from your state, but may not have used the
correct registration. I have attached a spreadsheet listing team advisors,
ambassadors, CyberGuides and virtual judges from your state that have
NOT registered
with the above code. If you know these individuals are members of your
organization, please contact them and have them change their registration
code by the deadlines below. More information is listed below for virtual
judges – this is great for anyone who may want to learn about the
competition and for pre-service teachers going into the science/engineering
fields.

*$ per*

Student Registrations (by Jan 15)

$1.00 per student

Student Submissions (by March 1)

Here is some additional information you may want to advertise:

*Vernier Probeware Giveaway*

Once again this year, eCYBERMISSION is offering incentives for Team
Advisors. eCYBERMISSION will award Vernier Probeware ($600 approximate
value) to each of the following Team Advisors:

· The Team Advisor with the most student registrations (by Jan 15)

· One Team Advisor randomly selected from all Team Advisors with at
least 20 student registrants (by Jan 15)

· The Team Advisor with the most student submissions (by Mar 1)

Team Advisors who won one of these last year are not eligible to win again
this year. Winners will be announced in April when we announce the state
winners.

*Virtual Judge Recruitment*

eCYBERMISSION is actively recruiting Virtual Judges to read and score this
year’s Mission Folders during March 2014. Do you know of anyone who might
be interested?

In order to volunteer as a Virtual Judge, you must be at least 18 years of
age and:

- Believe promoting STEM education to America’s youth is important to our
nation’s continued global competitiveness

- Enjoy supporting and volunteering for an education-related community
service activity

- Want to contribute your expertise in a fun and unique way to the next
generation of America’s leaders

- Are interested in discovering how today’s students learn and apply STEM
studies in a school setting

- Enjoy the flexibility of volunteering online at your own convenience
during the Virtual Judging Period in March.

- Student virtual judges will only be assigned 5 mission folders to judge
during March.

*AEOP STEM-in-Action Grant (New for 2014!)*

The AEOP STEM-in-Action Grant awards funds to selected eCYBERMISSION
national finalist teams to implement solutions in their local communities
based the results of their projects. The grant will be awarded to five
teams across all grade levels in the competition and each team will receive
an award of $5,000. The awards will be presented during the eCYBERMISSION
National Judging and Educational Event (NJ&EE) and independent of the
selection of eCYBERMISSION national winners.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank-you for all
you have been doing thus far in promoting eCYBERMISSION in your state!
