[White-water] Sandy Gorge and Revenue to Dodge cfs

Greetings:

Prior to removal of Marmot Dam, the best source for obtaining the flow on the Sandy River in the Sandy Gorge (i.e., Marmot Dam to Revenue Bridge) and Revenue Bridge to Dodge Park was the USGS gauge "Sandy River Below Marmot Dam Near Marmot, OR". A hydrologist at the NW River Forecast Center told me yesterday that, at the present time, this gauge is not accurate due to the silt deposits that occurred during removal of Marmot Dam.

USGS has installed a new gauge upstream of where Marmot Dam was located called the "Sandy River Below Salmon River Near Brightwood, OR." This gauge is not yet on Pat Welch's web page. The new gauge can be found on the web at:

http://waterdata.usgs.gov/or/nwis/uv/?site_no=14136500&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060

I was told by the hydrologist that this new gauge is now the best source for obtaining the flow in the Sandy Gorge and Revenue to Dodge. I was also told that this new gauge has not yet been fully calibrated, so it supposed to be relatively accurate up to flows of about 3,000 cfs, but not for higher flows -- as USGS has not yet had the opportunity to calibrate this gauge (i.e., translate gauge height into cfs) at higher flows.
