Thanks for the link and the inquiry about these jet boaters.  First off,
motorized use, even in the wild section of the Rogue National Wild and
Scenic River has occurred since the 40's.  The 1972 interagency river plan
even recognized this use as well.  A  mid 1980's Prohibited Acts published
by BLM in the Federal Register closed motorized use in the BLM's portion of
the "wild" section between May 15 and November 15.  This was republished in
the FR in 1992 as well.  Therefore, this section is not closed to motorized
use during the winter.  BLM is aware that this use occurs once or twice
during the winter months when higher flows allow it.  This is a first time
we've seen a video though.  Currently, we would only regulate it if it were
a competitive event.

Hello BLM,
How did they get a permit to do this?  I thought motors are illegal on that
section!  Am I wrong?
