How do you think we should encourage participation? Can anyone go to
this?

Dear colleagues:

I am writing on the recommendation of Jeanne Chowning and Sonia
Siegel-Vexler.

I am a staff member EDC ( a non profit organization in MA), and am the
leader of a major resource network for NSF. In that capacity, we have a
cooperative agreement with NSF to support a series of regional meetings
that focus on the NRC report, Successful K-12 STEM Education:
Identifying Effective Approaches in Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics. (Report can be downloaded from
successfulstemeducation.org )

There was a roll-out meeting for the report at Drexel University in
Philadelphia in October, and planning is underway for a day-long meeting
at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle on Feb. 28th. We are
collaborating with WA LASER on this meeting which is designed to attract
particpants from the northwest, with a particular emphasis on
practitioners. We will also be inviting STEM thought leaders,
policy-makers, industry leaders, civic leaders, and funders. Invitations
for the meeting will come from NSF who is the host of the meeting.

I am writing to see if you think this meeting might be of interest to
teachers and administrators in your state or region. If you would be
interested in informing them about regional meetings, we could send you
materials, or have them receive an invitation from NSF.

If you find this of interest, I would be happy to have a conversation
about it. You can communicate with me by email, or we could set up a
time for a call.

Thanks in advance.

Barbara
