[Osta-board] OFRI and Norie

Hi Everyone,
Great conference. Thanks for all the hard work everyone put in to make it a
success.

I wanted to circle back around to the email Norie sent to all of us about
the decision to not allow her to present at the conference. I have not seen
any response to Norie. I also had a voicemail from Norie on my office
phone, asking about how the decision was made.  As a Regional Director it
is not my place to respond to Norie beyond letting her know I would bring
the matter up with the Board.

I personally feel like we, as a Board, did not handle this situation well.
As Norie stated in her email to us:
"To be clear, the session I had proposed was not  controversial or even
about OFRI, but an informational presentation on the CTE-Natural Resources
Program of Study and my partner presenter was Reynold Gardner of ODE."
Based on that information I am questioning why we rejected her proposal.
Nothing to be done about that now but I strongly believe we owe her a very
clear explanation and an apology if it is warranted. I also request that,
for any communication about the matter, the Board be copied on the email.

Norie has reached out to many people in many organizations about this
matter. I think it is imperative that we respond out of both professional
courtesy and the reputation of OSTA.

Thoughts on how to proceed?
